I’ve been logging all the wines from my various tastings this week and saw that there was a great selection of wines of all styles from M&S that I wanted to share. So here’s the list ! Let me know what you try.
FIZZ
M&S Finca Miguel Cava Brut NV, 11% ABV, £7.50
Beautiful, classic Cava with the local holy trinity of grapes. Lots of complexity, smoky mineral notes with a touch of tinned pineapple, chalk and toast. Cracking value.
M&S Rockferne English Sparkling Brut 2020, 12% ABV, £28
It’s exciting to see Roebuck Estates in Sussex make this for M&S. A gorgeous, easy drinking fizz but with class. Textured and fleshy, think baked apple and subtle brioche spice. Good value too for a traditional method sparkling (made like Champagne).
WHITE
M&S Collection Riesling 2023, 12% ABV, £14
This is exactly how good, young Riesling should taste: A zesty, lemon and lime blossom nose then crisp, citrus, slate and mineral. Proper wine. There’s a slight CO2 spritz too. Super refreshing.
M&S Lo Scudo Soave Classico 2024, 12% ABV, £8
A lovely, cheeky little Soave. Nice stone fruit and honeydew melon notes with a subtle, yeasty finish. This is your new fridge staple and it’s a great all-rounder for parties.
M&S Viré-Clessé Florent Rouve 2023, 13.5% ABV, £18
I love this! Classic, Burgundian Chardonnay with its concentrated and complex, baked peach and melon flavours tempered by some savoury, spicy oak. Worth the ££ for a special occasion.
RED
M&S Found Feteasca Negra 2020, £12.5% ABV, £8.50
Something different and delicious. Silky, light and elegant with layers of cherry, leather & spice. This sounds be wonderful chilled with cold cuts.
M&S Palataia Pinot Noir 2023, 10% ABV, £13
A great example of elegant Pinot from Germany. Silky and light with notes of dark cherry and a touch of strawberry and incense spice. A pretty, affordable alternative to Burgundy.
M&S Cape Quarter Boekenhoutskloof Bordeaux Blend 2023, 14% ABV, £12
Bordeaux fans who also like a bit more oomph will love this South African blend. Rich and layered with notes of cassis, cedar and baking spice. It's bold but refreshing with elegant, zippy acidity. Gorgeous. Fantastic value for a proper red too.
PINK
M&S Modarosa Italian Rosato 2024, 11% ABV, £6.50
This perky pink shows how accessible and delicious inexpensive wine from Sicily can be. So easy drinking, this is all about soft strawberry and cherry blossom and a refreshing, salinity. Fabulous value too.
M&S Myrtia Xinomavro Rosé 2024, 11% ABV, £10
Pretty and perfumed, this refreshing Greek pink offers a lovely change from classic, French rosés. Full bodied and fruity, this is floral but not soapy. The label is gorgeous too. A great gifting wine that everyone will also like.
